The Zonyira Royal Stool
We honour the historical legacy of the Zonyira Royal Stool. The Zonyira Royal Stool was established after the Agoe Adzigo War I in 1860 and is in the Ewipeme Clan of Anloga in the Volta Region of Ghana. It is one of the three War Stools name Zonyira established by Togbi Zewu I to honour the Warrior who fought in the Agoe Adzigo I war with the declaration:
Â
"THE BRAVERY YOU DISPLAYED DURING THE FIGHT, YOU SHOULD KEEP THE STOOL UNTIL YOU REACH HOME AND THEREAFTER, YOU COULD ESTABLISH A WAR STOOL FOR YOURSELVES"
Â
Being one of the three  Warriors War Stools established  by Togbi Zebu I  namely Haxomene and Azadagli from Tegbi and Zonyira from Anloga.

With the appellations {"ga be ye dzewu na henorwo", "Adza for gobs media geli o" ... } The Zonyira Royal Stool is a War Stool established in 1860. Ref. [Civil Service List 1919, Quittah District, Page 407]

Togbi Zonyira I a descendant of Amega Tetteh Norshei was installed in 1860 and reign for five years till his death in 1865.Â
Amega Nudali was made a Regent and kept the Stool after the death of Togbi Zonyira I from 1865 till 1920 before a new Chief, Tetevi Ahenoe Kuwornu was installed Zonyira II.
Togbi Zonyira II reign for 24 years and died in 1944.

After the death Togbi Zonyira II, Amega Doe Anagbo volunteered to be Regent of the Zonyira Stool as there was nobody from the linage ready to be immediately installed.
Amega Gershon Darteh Tay the father of the current Chief, was nominated by the Zonyira Royal family and was installed as Togbi Zonyira III. The installation was however opposed by Doe David Anagbo the volunteered Regent at the time who wanted to occupy the Stool as installed Zonyira Chief.Â
Â
The decision brought division among  Amega Leh's family as Doe Anogbo was also a descendant of Amega Leh through one of Amega Leh's three sons linage being Tetteh Norshie/Zonyira - Tetekpui/Dagbi and Tay Adzogble Amu.

Amega Leh's three sons then took their own line being The Tetteh Norshie / Zonyira Branch; The Tetekpui /Dagbi Branch and The Tay Adzogbe Amu Branch.Â

Amega Gershon Darteh Tay who was earmarked to be installed as  Togbi Zonyira III mysteriously became permanently incapacitated and could not be installed. The Zonyira Royal Family then took a decision to have a replacement and went ahead to install Amega Anthony Kofi Deku as Togbui Zonyira III in 1967. Togbi Zonyira III reign for 43 yeas and died in 2010.Â

On November 7, 2011, The Zonyira Royal Family chose and installed Mr Fed Tay who is a son of Amega Gershon Darteh Tay as Togbi Zonyira IV the current Chief of the Zonyira Stool.
